New G8 Sport Truck, Reimagined El Camino, On Hold
January 18, 2009 by Adam · Leave a Comment
Fans of the old El Camino will be sorely disappointed to hear that the Pontiac G8 Sport Truck, which was originally scheduled to come on the U.S. market in 2009, has been canceled. The vehicle was originally unveiled last spring during the auto show in New York. The vehicle would have represented a unique segment of the market.
The G8 Sport Truck was to be a car-pickup mix very reminiscent of the El Camino, and was designed to have been a specialty vehicle. Like the El Camino, it would likely have been a polarizing vehicle. Some people truly loved the idea of the El Camino and others just didn’t get it. Regardless, it is expected that the G8 would have generated this same kind of sentiment from both sides of the aisle.
The decision to drop the G8 was based, at least in part on the projection that annual sales of the vehicle probably would not have topped 5,000.
Other versions of the Pontiac G8, including the Pontiac G8 sedan, are going to continue. The G8 for 2009, in particular, is expected to do very well in its segment.

If you’re looking for something different to do in your Pontiac car around Springfield, consider trying out Geocaching. Geocaching puts your Pontiac’s navigation system and GPS unit to good use, and gives you a good opportunity to play treasure hunter for a day.
In order to take your Pontiac Geocaching, you need to start with a GPS. If your Pontiac has a navigation system, you’re all set. Otherwise, you’ll have to purchase a GPS add-on or handheld.
Once you have a GPS, you can sign up on a geocache website to find the location of specific geocaches. From there, you can input the geocache information into your GPS, and follow the GPS to the site.
Once you find the geocache, open it and take a look at the trinkets inside. You can switch out something you have with you, if you wish. Make sure to write down your name, date, and time in the logbook, as well as a note about whatever trinket you took and/or left. You can also put this information on the Geocaching website.

When you think about Pontiac, you think sporty, reliability and comfort. You probably think of midsize seadans built to look good and perform well. What you probably don’t usually think about is a small car. Still, this spring, Pontiac will introduce the G3 to dealerships.
The Pontiac G3 is a small, five-door sedan. it uses a 1.6 liter 4 cylinder engine, and gets 34 MPG on the higway, 27 in the city. This little car has a surprising amount of room, and offers theater style seating for the rear seat passengers. the Pontiac G3 can seat 5 adults in relative comfort.
The Pontiac G3 proves that you don’t have to sacrifice style and performanc just to get decent fuel economy. There are plenty of trademark Pontiac features as standard, as well. The base car gives your air condeitioning, CD/MP3 audio, fog lamps, a rear spoiler, and even OnStar.
If you want to take a look at the latest that Pontiac has to offer you, come see your Pontiac Dealer near Sprignfield today. We can show you that performance and style can indeed come in small packages.

The 2009 Pontiac G5 is the corporate twin to the Chevrolet Cobalt coupe. The G5 features a much more stylish look, of course, with its twin-port grille leading the way. The G5 gives Pontiac fans a compact and sporty option.

There are two trim levels to the 2009 Pontaic G5. The base trim level features power accessories, keyless entry, air conditioning, and a MP3 and CD audio system. The GT trim adds a few things to the base level, not the least of which is the engine. It gets a 2.4 liter inline-4, whereas the base gets a 2.2 liter inline-4. The smaller engine produces 148 horsepower, while the bigger one gives 173 horsepower.

Inside of the Pontiac G5 is where the GT shines. It gets metallic accents, and has an optional premium leather trim. For both trim levels, you can have satellite radio or a Pioneer sound system. The GT also has bigger wheels, as well as sport-tunes suspension and cruise control.
Check out the Pontiac G5 today. You’ll be glad you did.
