Your GMC Wiper Blades

June 15, 2009 by jcme

One of the most important features on your GMC vehicle is one you never think about unless it’s raining. Your wiper blades allow you to see out your window in order to navigate and get down the road safely. Keeping on top of your wiper blade maintenance is important, and knowing when to replace them will help prevent a situation where they just don’t work well at all and you can’t see out your window.

Around once every six months is about right when it comes to changing wiper blades. Some people like to change their wiper blades when they change the clock for daylight savings time. (Incidentally, this is a great time to change the batteries in your house’s smoke detectors, too.

There are specific signs of wear to watch for, as well. Wiper blades that need to be replace will often streak. In some cases, your blades may bounce. “Bouncing” occurs when the wiper bounces along the windshield instead of making a clean arc. Usually this results when the wiper blade develops additional curve which can happen if it’s spent too much time parked against the windshield.

If the rubber on your blades is worn, or if your wiper frame is bent or damaged, these are also good reasons to replace your wiper blades.

We know you don’t need a service department to replace your wiper blades. However, for all of your other maintenance needs, make sure to visit your Springfield area GMC dealer today. We’ll get you the service you need.
