Your Pontiac's Air Conditioning

May 11, 2009 by Adam · Leave a Comment

One of the most important systems in your Pontiac vehicle , when it comes to comfort, is your air conditioning. While you don’t rely on the air conditioning to keep your car going or keep you safe, it’s a system that is pretty important, especially if you live in a warmer climate.

There are several major components to your Pontaic’s air conditioning system. There is a compressor, a condenser, an evaporator, an accumulator or receiver and dryer. If your air conditioning stops working, any one of these components to the air conditioning system could be at fault.

Most often, however, the reason that an air conditioning system will stop functioning properly is because it runs out of refrigerant. There are two types of refrigerants commonly in use in today’s vehicles: for vehicles made before 1994, the refrigerant is R-12. For vehicles 1995 and later, the refrigerant is R-134a.

Understanding just these few basic ideas about your air conditioning system can help you to make good choices when it’s time to have your air conditioning system looked at by your auto repair professional. Call your local Pontiac dealer near Springfield today to make sure your air conditioner is ready to roll this summer.

The Importance of Regular Vehicle Maintenance

April 13, 2009 by Adam · Leave a Comment

If you want to keep your Pontiac running in its optimal condition, there are some regular vehicle maintenance tasks that you need to take care of. Knowing what kinds of things you need to do will help you to retain your car’s value, avoid breakdowns and accidents, and have an overall better experience with your vehicle.

For example, getting your oil and oil filter changed on a regular basis will give you an amazing return on your maintenance investment. This protects the internal parts of your engine, and it helps improve your gas mileage. Make sure to follow the recommended interval in your vehicle’s manual.

Changing your air filter regularly is important, too. A dirty air filter decreases mileage and makes the engine work harder than it needs to. Usually you’ll change the air filter about once a year.

Make sure to pay attention to your brakes. If your brake light comes on, or if you hear a noise when you brake, it’s time to get them looked at. You want to do that sooner rather than later, as waiting can mean a more expensive repair or even an accident.

You should also maintain your battery. Extreme cold and heat can be hard on your battery. Make sure you have it tested regularly, and that your vehicle’s alternator is working properly.

Are you a fan of OnStar on your Pontiac vehicle? Did you know that you can get a free three-month trial of this emergency system when you buy one of the new Pontiac cars at your local dealer’s lot? And now, OnStar has added an exciting new feature called the Stolen Vehicle Assistance.

With Stolen Vehicle Assistance, you have the “most comprehensive in-vehicle security system on the market,” according to OnStar’s website. With real-time GPS technology, OnStar can help police find the exact location of your Pontiac car and follow it wherever it is going. For the 2009 models, OnStar can now slow your vehicle down gradually from a remote location. This is great because it helps minimize the chances of the thief getting into an accident with your new Pontiac car and it also helps police apprehend the thief quickly.

Don’t worry, though. OnStar does not keep tabs on your car as if it were Big Brother. In fact, OnStar does not know your vehicle’s location until you push the OnStar button.

Driving the 2009 Pontiac Vibe

November 17, 2008 by jcme · Leave a Comment

All too often, when you’re looking for a Pontiac Car near Media, it can be difficult to know how it’s going to feel driving in the long run. When you’re out on a test drive, you are paying attention to things like acceleration, stopping, and even the features of the car’s audio system. Knowing whether or not you’ll be happy with the way a car drives over time can be challenging.

Fortunately, the 2009 Pontiac Vibe takes the guesswork out of it.

The 2009 Pontiac Vibe is, at the most basic level, an easy drive. The shifter for the five speed automatic transmission of the Vibe comes out of the dash. Still, it feels like it’s in the perfect place for when you need a quick shift. When you shift into reverse, you don’t have to pull up or do anything special. You just push straight in. There’s plenty of room in the pedal area for braking and clutching, too.

The Vibe accelerates just fine for a car of its size. It also features ABS, tire pressure monitors, stability controls and six air bags. The Vibe handles well, and has enough safety features to put your mind at ease.

Come check out the 2009 Pontiac Vibe. You’ll be glad you did.

Pontiac Vibe Wins Award

October 24, 2008 by jcme · Leave a Comment

The Pontiac Vibe is one of the best Pontiac cars at your Newton Square area dealer. Of all the various compact cars that Pontiac has produced over the last two decades, the Vibe is at the top of the heap. It combines a roomy interior, tremendous utility, a peppy powertrain, clean styling and it does it at a price that won’t damage your wallet.

Our neighbors to the North recognize the Vibe’s quality, as well. This month, the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada awarded the 2009 Pontiac Vibe with the distinction of being the “Best New Small Car over $18.000.”

This award didn’t come easily, either. The recognition comes as a result of evaluations of more than 50 new vehicles at the Test Fest, sponsored by the AJAC. The competition was judged by not just a small pannel of judges, but by 80 percent of Canada’s top auto jorunalists.

“The heart of Canada’s vehicle market is the highly competitive small car segment, so we are particularly excited about this award for the 2009 Pontiac Vibe which has seen a sales increase of over 30% this year,” said Marc Comeau, vice president of sales, service and marketing for GM of Canada. “The versatile new Vibe provides a combination of style, utility and excellent fuel efficiency that is clearly resonating with Canadian consumers.”

With volitile fuel prices stateside, you can’t do any better in the United States with the Vibe, either. That same combination of style, utility and fuel efficiency is just as important in Newton Square as it is up North.
